is it immoral to 10 your own song?

it probably is, but I have no morals anyway...

hey, thanks again for letting me be a part of this... every instrument turned out super-evil. There was still a compressor-limiter thing happening when I listened, though (as mentioned below in other reviews)... mixing can be very frustrating hey?

yeah, i had never heard the original before i joined this project but we collectively blew the crap out of it. this is evil! you are evil. any future projects you had in mind... i'm 100% available!

long live the metal.

Devastus responds:

Thanks for your review. Immoral? Maybe. Doesn't matter to me however :P

Yeah, there's still overcompressing happening. I could fix it but really, I can't be arsed to do that since the file is a big one and I'd have to undo some things in order to get things straight.

Yeah, I will be definitely contacting you in the near future again for some more vocal work. You fucking rock, man.

the invisible song, eh?

i don't understand how this could go through the frontpage and only get 4 listens... weird...

1 vote, 4 listens and 0/5... that's not really fair :(

For what it's worth, i liked it! there was a slight tempo issue, i thought, but not too drastic. I liked the "trippy" elements to it: how the instruments bounced around L-R panning & the fx on your vox.

neojim88 responds:

Ehhh thank you ^_^ yes I agree... Hmm yeh I know I noticed the tempo thing too, I believe you're right, the song is still in its rough stages, there's still alot I would add or correct in it, although I think I got the feel of the song how I wanted ^_^... thanks for your feedback, much appreciated *high five*

yeah!

I was cheering when the lead-style guitar kicked in around 0.30... awesome!

Good riffs... good pace and beat. I felt like most of the song was just an intro, though.... at around 0.50 when the bass kicks in, that (to me) is when the song really begins... but then it abruptly ends! This song should've gone for at least one minute longer... working with that bass riff and adding some variations on that riff. This song just left me wanting more!

If you have a moment, check out my latest post... I recorded my band doing a ZZ Top cover, Tush.

great sound!

however you've recorded that guitar... it has come through really well. This 10 is for the nice rhythm and that crisp, clear sound.

Check out my latest post if you have time. My band recorded a cover of ZZ Top's "Tush"... it came out pretty well :)

creepy... spooky... trippy...

but it was a bit ugly too!

interesting effect, having a phaser over the entire drum line... it really sounded freaky however it might've added more rhythm to the song to only have the cymbals phased rather than the whole kit.

The bass was a bit muddy and it probably needed more panning to the left or right to give the drums some space.

The vox were crazy... this was insane. I liked it despite the sound recording being a bit crusty.

Check out my latest post if you have time. I've put up a recording of my band covering ZZ Top's "Tush"

Chasethedrummer responds:

Thanks man!
Yeah, I'm still trying to get the hang of the whole editing prosess
and I'm only using a crappy computer mic.
Although I totally agree with everything you said,
I would like to say one thing about the phaser effect...
Sadly, it was used mostly just to cover up to crappy sound quality. -_-
But, yeah! I'll check it out if I have the time.

insane

yeah, that pretty much wraps it up... some of those riffs were so impossibly fast... the drums too... it made me smile.

the composition was fairly well done... lots of elements there competing for space and they mixed together alright... good transitions and drum fills too. I liked the fast parts the best... and the lead parts.

check out my bands version of Tush if you have the time...

svere responds:

Thanks for your review!

good job

there's an odd, "gurgly" kind of distortion happening on certain notes on the rhythm guitar... was that deliberate?

This is pretty sweet... slow and dreamy and kind of melancholy... I could easily imagine some laidback percussion to fit perfectly with this... have you got the equipment to do drums to it? I was thinking along the lines of Planet Caravan (the Pantera version in particular) if you know what i mean.

yeah, I liked it!

JohnnyCellulose responds:

ya the gurgly thing...well that's completely unintentional, i cant help it. its the string. and i dont hav electric drums or any drums for tht matter. And doing drum lines wit garageband can get hard

thx a bunch for the positive review!

(PS i dont have a clue about th planet caravan thing =P )

wow... that singed my ear-brows

yeah, my ears are so hairy that they have dreadlocks...

Seriously though, this was fucking awesome! Great riff-work throughout. Nice intro and transition around 0.45... and then it just got more and more insane...

great build up

when that guitar kicked into overdrive around 0.30 i was thrashing... those little "spaced out sounding" leads were great. Shit man, this whole thing is awesome.

I'd definitely have a crack at some vox if you want... but I don't know if I've got the sound you are after. If you are interested (considering you've already got a few offers!) check out my sumission Welcome to Hell to get an idea of my voice. It's pretty much death growl though... don't know if that's what you're after.

Yeah, my mic is decent. It's a behringer B2 large condenser studio mic (it's German, hope you don't hold that against me!!!! :P) running through an MBox into ProTools.

Devastus responds:

Yeah, I listened up, and man you rock. It's just that I've got a bit of a voice like that already :P

Oh, and about that mic. I have exactly the same :P German, even.

Thanks for your review.

brutal

those vox that kicked in around 1.00 were tortured... like you were being disemboweled :D

your death growl is awesome... so guttural, it really is deep and devilish.

CWN responds:

:D
Check out the remastered version. It's better.
